The Department of Defense annually solicits nominations for outstanding military officers to serve as military mentors during the Washington Week of the U.S. Senate Youth Program.
Participation in this prestigious program provides military officers the opportunity to exercise their leadership skills while mentoring our nation’s next generation of elected and appointed public servants. Each year, 17-20 officers are chosen through a competitive nomination package and candidate review process. The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs generally distributes nomination instructions in October, with the selection announcement in January.
Military mentor participation in the U.S. Senate Youth Program is on a voluntary basis and at no additional cost to the government. Military mentors must be in a leave or permissive temporary duty status during the program. Meals and lodging accommodations will be provided by the United States Senate Youth Program.
If you are currently serving on active duty in a Military Service, in the U.S. Coast Guard, or in the National Guard, and are interested in receiving a nomination package, please email, email@example.com.
